How a sole proprietorship is registered
There is no SECP incorporation for a sole proprietorship. The business is registered with FBR under the owner’s individual registration, with the business name and details added on IRIS. Depending on the activity, you may also need sales tax registration, chamber of commerce membership or local licences, and a business bank account will typically require proof of these registrations.
Who typically needs this
- Individuals starting a shop, trading, service or online business on their own
- Freelancers who want to trade under a business name
- Existing informal businesses that want to open a business bank account
Documents and information usually required
- CNIC of the owner
- Mobile number registered in the owner’s name and email address
- Business name and nature of business
- Business premises address and proof (tenancy agreement or ownership document and utility bill)
The exact list depends on your circumstances. We confirm it on WhatsApp before any submission.
